Pyramid Stereos and SpeakersFor safety pre-cautions, we recommend you do not turn your stereo up that loud in the city as you may have trouble hearing emergency vehicles. Be careful out there! RMS and Peak power are two different things. Peak power, for instance, is the maximum capacity that that component can put out. For example, if a subwoofer has a peak value of 1200 watts it can reach 1200 watts of output power, but it's not running at 1200 watts all the time. RMS power is the actual wattage the speaker or subwoofer will be running on most of the time. RMS power can generally be found by taking the peak/maximum power rating and dividing it by two. RMS is equal to the square root of the peak. Power caps (or capacitors) are useful for when you want to run a loud system. Or any Pyramid system, really. If you notice sometimes you experience shortages in voltage - like your highbeams turn off by themselves and won't come back on - then you may need a power capacitor to store your Pyramid stereo some energy. Even a small amount of damping material can have a profound effect on noise reduction. In a typical application, applying damping material to the doors of your Pyramid can reduce road noise up to 6 dB! This is a huge reduction in noise. Complete coverage for an average vehicle can reduce road noise as much as 18 dB! You can apply damping material in patches (25-50% area coverage) to keep a specific panel from resonating, or you can apply it over an entire area (such as the floor, doors, or trunk) to create a sound barrier and thermal insulator for your Pyramid. Installing damping material requires only a few basic tools: Razor knife or scissors, roller tool, rags, and a solvent-based cleaner (rubbing alcohol also works). Don't forget basic hand tools for the disassembly and reassembly of your Pyramid. A touch screen display is a fancy piece of technology to have in your car.
